Next Board Meeting is April 7th, 2007 at 7:00 p.m., Meeting will be held at the Marengo Township Building.
General Information
- Helmets:
Each girl will be required to provide their own helmet this year. Girls that are age 11 and older will be required to have a face mask on their helmet. All helmets need to be NOCSAE approved. I have not seen any helmets that are being sold that do not have this approval on them. We will be selling our used helmets for $3 to $5 dollars.
The reasons we decided to require each girl to have her own helmets were; Problems with storage, they take up a lot of room and do not have a good place to store them; Sanitary reasons, helmets generally get dirty and do not get cleaned from year to year.
- Girls in the 13-17 year old division:
For the past 10-15 years we have been playing in the DeMcKane League, we are looking into forming a new league, which will be much smaller and a league that fits more into our style of play. Currently we are working with Belvidere and Genoa.
Keep in mind that this age division does not begin play until the first week of June and are the last teams drafted and will probably not be drafted until the month of April.
- Potential Coaches:
If you are interested in coaching, we are always looking for good coaches. Please contact any of our officers if interested. We do background check on all of our coaches.
- Sponsors:
If you would like to sponsor a team, or know of someone who is interested, please contact us.
Facts to know:

- Studies demonstrate that girls who play sports are 80% less likely to experience unwanted pregnancy, 92% less likely to use drugs, more likely to get better grades, more likely to graduate high school
- 80% of female executives surveyed in Fortune 500 companies identified themselves as having played sports in school

Age Divisions
Pee Wee Division: Age 6-8
This is the first year that we have opened up this division to 6 year old girls. They will play with a JUGS Softie 11 ball. The coaches will pitch to the girls. Coaches will be placed on the field to instruct defensive plays.
Pixie Division: Age 9-10
Girls will begin to pitch in this division, with assistance from their coaches
Pigtail Division: Age 11-12
Girls use a 12 softball and all pitching is done by the girls. They will steal all bases except home.
Age division: 13-17.
The girls in this division will be drafter much later than the younger girls. They play in a league with towns located south of Marengo. Their games will not begin until the 1st week of June. Their season will end mid July. They will also have two Saturday double headers. They will play high school rules, only less competitive.
